Hi, i used to use butane for my potato launcher, but ever since i discovered ether, which turns out to be, diethyl ether, ive never gone back. Start-ya-bastard is expensive and hard to locate, so i plan to buy a bulk amount of liquid diethyl ether, the anasthetic ether. Its alledgedly more volatile than gasoline, and wont embrittle the pvc over time, plus it smells nice, nicer than gasoline anyway. the problem however is, as a liquid, its a bit difficult to handle, plus, its a very dense fuel source, and my potato launcher only uses a small barrel, 50mm x 350mm, so its easy to overfuel. Ive been wondering, are there any syringe systems out there for pumping in fuel? I want to make the fueling part of my potato launcher fully automatic. Essentially im looking for a small, heavy duty manual pump, which i can suck up around a tablespoon of liquid with in one pull. ANy ideas? thanks. |

I don't have much experience with fuels outside of aerosol cans and I know very little about ether. But I figure you should be able to make up a mechanical metering system. What kind of tools do you have access to? Like lathes and such? |
