Originaly posted by fieroman1978,my gun has threaded adapter for interchangable barrells and was just wondering something. Does the muzzle velocity increase the smaller barrel you go? I feel i should know the answer to this somewhat.
cause i switched from 1.5" to 3/4" and at tested it at only 20psi, and i swear it went faster than 50psi from my larger barrel. or am i imagining things?

Originaly posted by cchant,Longer barrels give the gas more time to acellerate the projectile. Shorter barrels need more pressure to achieve the same results. Larger diameter barrels will shoot faster than smaller diameter barrels because there is more cross sectional surface area for the gas to push on thus the force is greater. However, large bore projectiles usually weigh more which balances out the increase in force. If you have any diameter reductions along the way, you could be increasing the gas's velocity. That's most of what's going on between your two barrels, but exactly which of those variables are having the most effect can be found through experimentation.
