Post subject:  Complete and Utter Failure

Originaly posted by pacogoatboy,
My diafragm/piston hybrid, the valve that I had so much hope for, was a complete and utter failure when I finally tested it today. I should have just left the stinking thing assembled and sitting on the shelf and told myself that it worked beautifully. I couldn't get the stinking thing to seal across my exit pipe AT ALL. The air just ran straight through the thing like there wasn't a valve present. Dang it, this really ticks me off. I guess that is what happens when you experiment with this stuff though. I would have been OK if it had just not performed as well as I had expected, but no performance at all is just too much for me. I can't figure it out and it is going to drive me nuts. Maybe my spring wasn't strong enough, so the diafragm lifted up and let air into the exit pipe. I don't know. Anyone who wants to look and give suggestions on how to fix this piece of crap, take a look at the design at http://msdadmin.scican.net/patt/bigvalve.htm

Have a nice night everyone.

Post subject:  Piston Valve Diagrams?

Originaly posted by pacogoatboy,
I can't seem to find any diagrams of how to make a regular old piston valve. Does anyone know of a place to find some. All I can find is one drawing on the spudzooka site and lots of pictures of partially assembled ones. I can never tell how the heck they put them together, so I am unable to build one of my own. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

your fill valve? it might be that the fill valve is not above the diaphram/piston (pistphragm?)

Post subject:  try filling it slowly...

Originaly posted by Namor,
so there is no sudden surge of air pressure against the diaphragm and spring....that way it equalizes nice and evenly

MY MAJOR gun the big 1200+CI one I am ocassionally caught talking baout was a complete and utter failure.

It is a solid Plastic Piston with 2 Orings on the back end that seals on PVC pipe.
The front end seals on its front face with a 1/4 thick sheet of neoprene.

I am rebuilding it yes. But research and a new device takes time.
Keep at it.
