|Post subject:||Questions about the Supah Valve|
Originaly posted by Bartman007,I have become hooked on pneumatics and am thinking about buying a Supah Valve. I got a few questions... First off, has anyone measured the Cv of the Supah Valve and/or the Supah Valve Plus. Secondly, if I was to order one. Do you think I would get better performance by asking Joel to thread the exhaust hole 3/8" NPT (if he would do it) and using a 3/8" quick-exhaust, or by using a Supah Valve Plus
I would assume that the Supah Valve Plus would do a better job, but it is worth asking.
If the Supah Valve Plus is better, I think I might just buy a Supah Valve with the exhaust ported to 1" (again, if Joel will do it,) and supply my own sprinkler valve.

Originaly posted by mta,The 3/8" quick exhaust at mcmaster.com has a Cv of only 2.86. A 1" sprinkler valve does better than that. A 3/4" quick exhaust, on the other hand, has a Cv of 7.84, which probably beats a sprinkler valve.
As for the Cv of a Supah valve.. My 2" coaxial floating diaphragm valves have a Cv of 43, according to GGDT. The 2" Supah should be somewhat higher than that. Projecting the 2" performance to a 3" valve results in a Cv of 95+
One day somebody with a supah and a chronograph will post some real data on the valve so we can stop guessing.
