Originaly posted by Nefarious,Has anyone ever picked up all the parts and fittings at your local hardware store and later found out the threaded fittings only thread in halfway or less? That is what happened to me this morning and it really pi$$ed me off. Are these fittings cheaply made or what? Ive cleaned the threads of burrs and such, but to no avail. Is it safe to have your fittings thread in only a turn and a half and is there any way to fix this?

Originaly posted by FoxxLord,Threaded PVC fittings can be a little "sticky" sometimes because of friction but I don't think 1.5 turns is normal. Try teflon tape or teflon pipe compound, that usually makes things turn easier. If not, don't force it or else it'll really get stuck! Just a suggestion.

Originaly posted by boogieman, the tolerances are off, and it makes them that way. I always test my fitting to make sure they screw in quite far by hand before purchasing. Try a pipe wrench, it may just need a bit more force.
