Starting fluid works great and doesn't seem to harm PVC. You shouldn't "blow up" as long as you use pressure rated PVC and do a quality PVC PRIMER and cement job on the joints. BTW, use PVC primer. Oh, and...use PVC primer. Primer is usually purple but available in clear also. Use primer. : )
