best projectile

Starting out with a smaller bore size for my spudgun, it is 1 and 1/4 inch pvc. What is a good projectile that fits in this size barrel? Bouncy balls, Ball bearings? any ideas?

Search around there.

I want to say C or D cell batteries fit well but I don't remember.
